Eager to bring his Indian roots into contemporary Western mainstream, London-born and New York-raised Karsh Kale's highly original style is described as "where electronic dance meets Indian folk." The percussionist/songwriter is known primarily for creating "genre-busting global electronic music" with his tabla and electronic percussion playing skills, but is also a producer, composer and DJ.

Kale appeared at Stern Grove in 2001, as part of the live Tabla Beat Science performance, featuring Bill Laswell, Zakir Hussain, Ustad Sultan Khan, vocalist Gigi, and the Midival Punditz. A live recording of the concert, Tabla Beat Science - Live at Stern Grove, was released by Palm Pictures and was hailed as "a prime example of what can be accomplished with an open mind and formidable musical skills."

Described by Billboard magazine as a "visionary composer and producer," Kale has released four critically acclaimed solo albums on Six Degrees Records, became a founding member of the groups Tabla Beat Science and Realize Live, recorded and remixed countless artists, and has collaborated with an array of artists, including Zakir Hussain, Paul Oakenfold, Sting, Anoushka Shankar, Salim-Sulaiman, Bill Laswell, MIDIval Punditz, Norah Jones, Sultan Khan, Paula Cole, Susheela Raman and Herbie Hancock. Karsh also created Kollektiv, a national crew of DJs' producers, musicians and artists showcasing progressive underground music across the country.

His most recent album, Broken English, released in 2006, proves to be his most diverse mélange to date, featuring a raw mix of rock, rap, electronica, classical Indian, and Indian film music.
