Sigmund Stern Grove, 19th Ave. & Sloat, San Francisco

Stern Grove Festival’s 72nd Season finale features the renowned San Francisco Opera Orchestra with tenor Marco Berti.

Heralding the arrival of San Francisco Opera’s new Music Director Nicola Luisotti, the afternoon focuses on great Italian opera, including selections from Un Ballo in Maschera, Cavalleria Rusticana, Tosca, Turandot, La Wally, Adrianna Lecouvreur, and more.

Berti, who stars as Manrico in San Francisco Opera’s 2009 season-opening production of Il Trovatore, is one of the opera world’s greatest tenors for the dramatic Italian repertoire singing regularly in San Francisco, La Scala, the MET, Vienna, Munich, Chicago, Verona, and London. Adler Fellows Leah Crocetto, Daveda Karanas, Heidi Melton, and Tamara Wapinsky will also perform and Assistant Music Director Giuseppe Finzi will conduct.

Today’s performance is dedicated to the memory of Elise S. Haas, Festival Chair from 1956 to 1968.
