84TH SEASON IN REVIEW

Season lineup.jpg

(L-R): SGF Executive Director Bob Fiedler, SGF Board Chair Matthew Goldman, Mayor London Breed on Opening Day, 2021

We were so grateful and proud to return in 2021 and be the first major musical event to happen in San Francisco in over 18 months.

Our 2021 season featured Grammy Award winners, Rock & Roll Hall of Famers and multi-Platinum selling artists in nine free concerts for over 55,000 attendees from June 20 - August 15, 2021. Our final concert and annual fundraiser, scheduled for August 29, was unfortunately canceled due to a water main rupture that flooded the park on August 23, 2021.

In addition to the live concerts, we live streamed 7 of our shows to a global audience of more than 18,000 people in more than 80 different countries, and offered 26 online arts education programs and 7 live/virtual classes, which were viewed by nearly 1,000 people.

We also added a big screen in the West Meadow, and, through a partnership with Mixhalo, we offered a direct audio feed from the mixing board through their free app, providing crystal-clear sound no matter where you are in the venue.

The water main rupture on August 23, 2021 created a river of mud that flowed through the concert meadow and surrounding areas. We look forward to working with our partners at the SF Recreation & Park Department, and the Public Utilities Commission, on the clean-up and restoration of the Grove and our facilities there.

THANK YOU!

Thank you to all the attendees, donors, sponsors, vendors, partners, and supporters who helped us achieve our mission to make live musical experiences accessible to all. We are grateful for your support and participation.

And a special shout-out to the entire crew and staff, who worked so hard to make this season come to life. We can’t wait to do it all over again next year!
