black london

  • Black London is a Bay Area-based collective led by powerhouse musicians and bandleaders—Kev Choice, Mike Blankenship, and Howard Wiley—committed to advancing the excellence and legacy of Black music through performance, recordings, and collaboration. Their roots trace back to UC Berkeley’s Young Musicians Program, later solidified on tour with Ms. Lauryn Hill, where the group performed all over the world. Together, they’ve reimagined classics like D’Angelo’s Voodoo album in a tribute hailed as “a spiritual experience” by the East Bay Express.

Kev Choice, now a professor at San Francisco State University, blends classical training with hip-hop, jazz, and activism. Mike Blankenship is a producer, pianist, and founding member of the Oakland nonprofit Yeah, Art!, and Howard Wiley, a SFJAZZ Resident Artist, is known for his genre-defying work and projects like The Angola Project. As Black London, they unite to celebrate and evolve the sound of Black musical expression.
